Reviews.
Departure has been described by McCartney as a complete change in musical style, compared to his previous releases. He was quoted saying about the new album, "I'm going for Prince chord changes, Michael (Jackson) melodies, and the bigness of Madonna - fun '80s stuff. That's the best that I can put it". Producers on the album include Sean Garrett, The-Dream and J. R. Rotem.

PopJustice.com reviewed the album, and said "Departure repositions McCartney alongside Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown and stands as an exciting, brilliantly produced landmark on the post-'Maneater' pop landscape. While referring to "My Baby", one of the album's records, they went on to say "if Michael Jackson was recording 'Off the Wall' in 2008 it would probably sound a bit like this."

Era provérbio citado sobre o álbum novo, “eu estou indo para mudanças da corda do príncipe, melodias de Michael (Jackson), e o bigness de Madonna - material dos anos 80 do divertimento. PopJustice.com reviu o álbum, e a “Departure dita reposiciona McCartney ao lado de Justin Timberlake e de Chris Brown e está como uma excitação, marco brilhante produzido na paisagem post- PNF “do Maneater”. Ao referir “My baby”, um dos registros do álbum, eles foi sobre dizer “se Michael Jackson era gravação “Off the Wall” em 2008 soaria provavelmente um pouco como esta.”
